Environmental Policy

Mission:

 "To provide a full day of family fun within a realistic budget, yet with high quality services and activities, in a natural, green and safe environment."

aMaizin! works hard to ensure that the perception of an attraction set in a natural environment is backed by reality and we have a constantly monitored environmental strategy in place. We are committed to ensuring the following:

-      We strive to reduce or balance any impact that we have on the environment

-      Maintain a harmonious existence within the built and natural environment

-      We reduce, re-use and re-cycle where possible

-      Our goods are supplied without packaging where possible

-      We do not provide takeaway packaging

-      We endeavour to buy locally and use fair trade products

-      We compost all possible waste

-      During building programmes all waste is re-used on site

-      We have a regularly monitored programme to reduce electricity consumption

-      We encourage visitors to reduce emissions and use the bus service, share cars and provide ample space for bikes

-      We encourage local wildlife and have implemented procedures for protection

-      We ensure that minimum chemicals are used on site

-      We plant a large number of trees on site each year and have our own tree nursery

-      We ensure that trees that are moved are re-planted where possible

-      We ensure good husbandry and a clean property

-      Our animals are monitored regularly to ensure excellent care

-      We actively reduce water consumption

-      Our attraction is completely non- smoking

-      We provide educational material on sustainability and good practice

-      We ensure social responsibility by working closely with local schools and charities

-      Car-park areas are designed to ensure minimum pollution risk

-      Signs are posted at key points to minimise customer risk

-      We tend hedgerows to ensure longevity

-      We maintain walls and boundaries

-      Staff are constantly updated on green issues

-      We work closely with a neighbouring farmer to obtain some animal foods and specialist labour reducing our carbon footprint

-      Co-operate with, and actively promote local heritage by joint initiatives

-      We endeavour to use fair trade suppliers and recycled products in our shop

-      We have provided newly built staff cottages on site, thereby reducing the carbon footprint of our staff to zero!
